Chinese printing equipment manufacturer HanGlobal has developed a new hybrid label press, combining its seven-colour LabStar UV inkjet digital printing platform with digital hot foil and conventional converting units from flexo manufacturer Label Source.
The original LabStar was introduced as a five-colour machine, and was more recently upgraded to include seven colours (double white, CMYK, orange and violet). This seven-colour engine is now at the heart of the LabStar330S Hybrid line, which is to be shown at Labelexpo Europe 2023.
The line to be demonstrated includes unwinding, HeFeng corona system, web cleaner, tension control, web guiding, pre-digital flexo station, seven-colour UV inkjet printing, digital hot foil unit, a further flexo unit for varnish, and rewinding. LabStar330S Hybrid can optionally be installed with a cold foil unit and integrated with semi-/rotary die-cutting, depending on the application/customer requirement. Digital cold foil, digital varnish and digital reverse printing to achieve 3D embossed varnish effects are listed as further options of LabStar330S Hybrid.
Johnson Lai, group brand director at HanGlory Group, said, ‘For wine labels, anti-counterfeiting labels and even some personalised labels, the digital hot foil stamping process provides more opportunities for these types of labels to shine. Previously almost impossible to achieve in the digital industry, the HanGlobal LabStar330S Hybrid digital hybrid press perfectly combines digital printing technology with hot foil stamping technology. For customers with such special process orders, there’s no need to create hot foil stamping plates. They can achieve personalised hot foil stamped labels with minimal set-up, streamlined processes, and rapid production.’
