The organisers of London Packaging Week have hailed the show’s move across the UK capital city to ExCeL as a success.
Although marketed by Easyfairs as a ‘new event’ when introduced in 2022, in reality Packaging Innovations was the predecessor to London Packaging Week and took place at the Business Design Centre and then Olympia. The first London Packaging Week was staged last year at Olympia. For 2023, the decision was taken to relocate to ExCeL.
Early results of this move appear strong, with Easyfairs reporting a 64% increase on last year’s attendance and a 28% increase in leads for the 170 exhibitors in attendance on the first day of London Packaging Week 2023. In total, just under 3000 visited the two-day event on its opening day last week (21-22 September, 2023). Exhibitors Digital Labels & Packaging spoke on day two confirmed a busy show floor and strong attendee interest in new packaging developments, such as the O-I: Expressions Signature digital glass decoration technique that offers VDP capability.
London Packaging Week marketing manager Naomi Stewart commented, ‘The venue has been perfect. It just feels bigger, better and more luxurious; so many productive conversations are going on. We’ve tried to get around as many visitors as possible, and everyone is so happy. We’ve seen some really good brands come through the doors today – PZ Cussons, Superdrug and Lush to name a few.
‘The speaker programme has more than delivered and has brought in that fresh feel and younger audience we wanted to bring in. It’s really taken off and the whole event has come together.’
