Five of Scotland’s most respected printing industry experts have launched Spirit Label Solutions, a brand-new premium spirit label production company.
In response to growing demand from the country’s craft whisky and gin sector, Spirit Label Solutions is aiming to deliver a bespoke approach to label production. With its sights on rapid expansion, and intent to double its current 15-strong workforce over the next three years, the company’s strategic positioning close to Glasgow and a stated commitment to ‘delivering unparalleled quality’ is said to, ‘position Spirit Label Solutions as a significant player in Scotland’s printing landscape.’
Spirit Label Solutions CEO Alex Mulvenny said, ‘It’s an exciting time to be starting the business and the response we have had from clients and the market has been very positive. We firmly believe there is a significant gap for our bespoke services. Our ethos is simple, yet powerful: ‘Bring digital agility to the Scotch whisky industry’ and we aspire to be the most customer-centric partner in our industry.’
Based within a recently refurbished unit in Westway at Glasgow Airport, Spirit occupies a 15,113 sqft facility. The unit, fitted out by Spirit, features a production area and office space. A substantial investment of £5 million has been made into the facility, including state-of-the-art production lines, including advanced digital label printing. Provision has been made for future expansion, aligning with the anticipated growth of the business.
Spirit Label Solutions has been founded by Mr Mulvenny, Tom Lightbody, Finlay McLachlan, Jamie Thomson and Chris Crockert. With a cumulative experience of over 100 years, the five founders, having held senior positions within the industry, bring a wealth of expertise to the new enterprise. Mr Mulvenny, who is CEO of Spirit Label Solutions, brings more than 20 years of experience to the role having worked at Labelgraphics and MCC Label for around a decade at each. Managing director Mr Lightbody has also come from MCC Label, after a decade in various management roles. Mr McLachlan, Mr Thomson and Mr Crockert have taken on the roles of sales director, supply chain and commercial director, and production director respectively. They are also all former MCC employees.
