Dr David Schmedding, future member of the executive board for sales and service at Heidelberg from the 1 July 2024, has outlined the company’s latest solutions and innovations at drupa 2024 for the challenges faced by customers.
Looking towards Düsseldorf (home of drupa 2024), Mr Schmedding has suggested that the trade show will showcase the ‘changing industry,’ however innovations will still be the main attraction. He commented, ‘At its core it [drupa] is still about innovations with which we help our customers to overcome their challenges – whether in the packaging or commercial sector. Cost pressure, a shortage of skilled workers, digitalisation and sustainability are the main challenges facing our customers. We will also clearly address these at drupa and offer solutions.’
The company are set to showcase a ‘firework display’ of innovations for packaging and commercial printing at drupa said Mr Schmedding. He also stated that the areas of innovation will address the sheetfed offset, flexographic and digital segments.
Despite the potential financial after-effects of the purchasing restraint before the trade fair at the start of the new financial year, as said by Mr Schmedding, the company are still optimistic for drupa, encouraged by its discussions with its customers. He concluded, stating what Heidelberg will show in Düsseldorf saying, ‘we are presenting innovations such as the performance enhancements to the Speedmaster XL 106 Peak Performance. Digital Label and the Boardmaster in flexo packaging printing have also been very well received by the market. And we’ll see what else we can show our customers at our stand at drupa.’
