Prime Labels KC, a US-based label manufacturer, has invested in a Durst Tau RSC E, adding to its existing toner-based digital and flexo printing capabilities.
Having purchased the company in early 2022, company president Todd McCullough said it became immediately clear that to enhance the quality of Prime Labels’ products and lower production costs the company needed to continue investing in its digital printing capabilities – having brought in a toner-based digital press in 2018. This led to the purchase of the RSC E from Durst.
Described as the ‘benchmark’ for label and flexible packaging printing by Durst, Mr McCullough explained that the RCS E offers the company a print quality of 1200dpi with CMYK and white inks, combined with advantages in speed and lower cost of production over toner-based printing. He continued saying that the front-end system is user-friendly and allows Prime Labels to save time in the pre-press aspects of digital printing. The RSC platform is also upgradeable, so the print system can continue to grow within business’s needs, he added.
Steve Lynn, director of labels and packaging sales, Durst North America, commented, ‘RSC technology is the future of the industry, and it is always a satisfying moment when customer needs match up exactly with the features you offer. Soon after meeting the team from Durst, it became clear that they shared the same focus on offering a high-quality product with a commitment to providing the best customer service experience.’
Mr McCullough concluded, ‘Digital has allowed Prime Label to enter into opportunities that would not otherwise been possible with our flexo presses, including shorter runs, multiple copies that change regularly, and variable data. I have no doubt that the enhancements offered through the Durst RSC E, combined with outstanding customer service, will have a significant impact on our business in the near term and beyond.’
