BakPac, the digital flexible packaging division of Baker Labels, is set to install its second HP Indigo 200K this week which is expected to be up and running around a week after installation, revealed at an HP event hosted at BakPac’s Brentwood, UK facility.
The second HP Indigo is to be installed next to the company’s other 200K press, which was installed in January 2024 – replacing its original Indigo 20000 which was installed back in 2019.
A deal agreed at drupa 2024, the second HP Indigo 200K was purchased by the company because of the high performance and productivity levels of the first 200k, said Steve Baker, BakPac’s managing director. The HP Indigo 200K is said to boast a 30% increase in printing speed and a 45% boost in expected productivity, compared to the HP Indigo 20,000.
Launched in February 2020, BakPac continues to grow in the digital flexible packaging market, and Baker Labels revealed that it now contributes to 20% of its entire turnover, and is predicted to reach 50% next year. The installation of the second HP Indigo 200K will help the company reach the 2025 predicted figure, it said.
Kirsty Dailly, PR and marketing manager at Baker Labels told DLP, ‘The second HP Indigo 200k is very much looking ahead, at least that was the mindset at the time of purchase. Now, we need it.’
She added, ‘Steve is very good at being able to predict where we are going as a company. Because we are an independent family-run business, Steve can make those decisions alongside the senior management team. They don’t have to be looking at a two/three-year investment cycle, which is a major strength for us because it gave us the ability and flexibility to go out to drupa and buy a second 200K to meet our growing demands.’
