Italian adhesive label producer Etikmar has invested in a new Digistar Astra hybrid production line from Lombardi Converting, incorporating flexo, digital and converting technologies. It said the system will help reduce production costs and offer greater flexibility.
The Mantua-based business, which operates in industries such as retail, food and personal care, has been a user of Lombardi’s Synchroline 430 flexo press – an eight-colour model – for the last two years.
Alessandro Marani, sales manager at Etikmar, commented, ‘This new line is a breakthrough for our company. It enables us to reduce production errors like misregistration, optimising processes and ensuring consistent quality with substantial savings on Pantone colours. With the precision of digital technology and the addition of orange and blue colours we can now cover a broader colour spectrum than traditional flexo.’
The new line includes two flexo units, Lombardi’s high-speed VOLO semi-rotary die cutter, waste removal system and Screen SAI-S inkjet for digital printing.
‘The ability to print various jobs with the same die and manage multiple variants without relying on offline finishing gives us a huge competitive edge,’ said Mr Marani, adding, ‘We can quickly meet the demands of a highly dynamic market.’
