East Anglian label supplier Abbey Labels has welcomed the UK’s first Xeikon LX3000 ‘Lion’ digital press with Eco toners, prompting Abbey Labels chairman Tom Allum to quip that the ‘Lion’ press is ‘literally eating label job after label job in no time at all’.
The press, which features Cruise Control inspection and eco-friendly toners, joins two Xeikon CX300s at the company’s production facility. The five-colour dry toner press prints up to 42 m/min – a significant jump in productivity, says the company.
Mr Allum adds that the press boasts a print quality of 1200dpi and has given the company a 40% speed increase in printing capacity, whilst also reducing energy consumption per linear metre.
In addition to higher speed, the LX3000 press takes advantage of Xeikon’s new Eco toner technology which reduces the carbon footprint of the process by more than 10%. Eco toners are made with 60% recycled plastic materials, are free from PFAS and are certified vegan.
‘More than simply offering faster speeds and guaranteed high quality with the new Cruise Control system, the LX3000 is also the environmentally friendly choice. Our brand owner clients demand proven sustainability to help reduce their carbon footprints, so we’re particularly pleased to be able to offer all the green benefits of Xeikon’s new Eco toners. This was a definite selling point for us,’ explained Mr Allum.
He states that the press is one of the most, if not the most, environmentally friendly and sustainable digital label printing technologies on the market today. He adds that the ‘Lion’ and the new Eco toners has set the company up for the next chapter in its history.
