Mondi has acquired the Western Europe assets of Schumacher Packaging, expanding its product range, capacity and innovation to customers demanding high-performance, sustainable packaging.
As a result of the acquisition, Mondi has expanded its portfolio with solid board solutions, offering sustainable packaging that protects products and optimises logistics for eCommerce and FMCG customers. The newly acquired plants in Ebersdorf and Greven (Germany) deliver top-tier performance and quality, Mondi added. This expansion meets the growing demand for sustainable packaging, providing existing customers with a broader product range and enhanced flexibility. Customers from Schumacher Packaging will gain access to Mondi’s full portfolio, sustainability credentials, reliable delivery systems, and strengthened security of supply.
Andrew King, Mondi Group’s chief executive officer, stated that the acquisition significantly strengthens the company’s corrugated packaging business. Extending its footprint in Western Europe, offering strong vertical integration opportunities, Mr King believes Mondi’s customers will benefit from the unique range of products available.
Markus Gärtner, Mondi Group’s CEO corrugated packaging, added: “This acquisition is all about delivering more for our customers – greater capacity, enhanced supply security, and a broader range of sustainable packaging solutions to help them succeed. Bringing together the expertise of our new colleagues from Schumacher Packaging with Mondi’s capabilities strengthens our offering even further, enabling us to drive greater innovation and value for the customers we serve.”
Digital Labels and Packaging first reported on the acquisition back in October 2024.
